The beginning of this video is not really beautiful, sorry about that, please just jump at 0:24 seconds. I shoot this video during my last visit to Hong Kong last year on 10th april for my birthday and I spent all day outside by myself moving from Hong Kong to Kowloon. I hope you like it. (Everybody can watch this since I just put a music in the background and never speak italian)
Hong Kong is situated in the South East of China, together with Macao it is a Chinese Republic. Is not a big city cause the surface is about 1.100 Km2 but it's population is of over 7 millions habitants, this makes of Hong Kong one of the most populated areas in the world. Is composed by 2 parts, the Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula. |
I really love Hong Kong cause it has all what I love about China in a more free and open minded place. It is easier to get a Visa to Hong Kong than to Mainland China and it is also easier for foreigners to find a job, start an activity and communicate with people cause most of them can also speak fluent english.
The apartments are quite small cause almost all buildings are very tall but very 'thin'. Since the place is limited but extremely populated Hong Kong is one of the most 'vertical' city in the entire world.

Hong Kong is a great city for having fun and for shopping, cause a lot things are cheap and safer than the famous made in China products. During the powder milk scandal (if you are interested I suggest to read this article) a lot chinese mothers went to HK to buy safer formulas for theirs babies.
Food is also safer and the restaurants should be cleaner and follow the hygienic rules.
I would definitely be able to live in Hong Kong cause this city is just magical, has everything a girl needs and wants but I will not be able to live in Mainland China for too long time. Since now I lived in Mainland for 6 months and I still have other 6 ahead, but this is probably the maximum I can bare.
I just have the feeling that HK is so open and westernized that makes this little part of Asia feel like home.
Some Tipps for HK:
-Remember to change money to HK Dollars (1UDS=7,75HKD)
-Purchase a Octopus Card, this card will make your visit to HK so much easier and you will spare time.
You can find it on the official website or at any 7eleven once you are arrived. With this prepaid card you will be able to pay for public transportation, restaurants, shopping and so many more.
-On top of Victoria Peak you will see HK Island and Kowloon Peninsula from a very beautiful terrace.
-Ngong Ping , go visit the big Buddah.
-Avenue of the Stars, it's such a beautiful place to go during evening, you will be able to see the skyline of the Peninsula with all its illuminated and colorful buildings. Breath taking! At 8:00 PM daily, you will be delighted with the 'Symphony of lights show' there will be relaxing music and a laser and light show. I will suggest to go there a little earlier in order to get a good place on the Avenue of the Stars (cause normally a lot of people will be there already to wait for the show).
-In Mong Kok every evening (not during Spring Festival, mid February) there is a very rich Ladies Market. Every girl dream. I suggest to go there after dinner but before midnight cause then it will close. There is a metro station very near to it, you can check on the website. At the market you can find a lot of designer bags, wallet, belts, clothes, jewelry but also electronics, all of them are fake! But who cares?!

Just pay attention at the airport when you go back home. Normally if you don't buy to many of them they won't mind. But if you buy shoes bags and others for yourself just use them a little bit before going back and don't put them in your luggage shining new.
I hope you enjoy your next HK trip.
